The ladrão de marabaixo is a musical form that tells the origins of the Black people of Amapá. To the beat of the marabaixo drum, residents of Quilombo do Curiaú, Mazagão Velho and the Favela and Laguinho neighborhoods of Macapá sing verses that “steal” stories from reality, mixing religious references, real and invented events, good-humored critique and poetry.
